The very first hub for electric mobility in Rome
The Enel X Store, a joint project with Volkswagen Group Italia, has been opened today. It is the first service area 4.0, with HPC charging stations finally also in town.

A new concept dedicated to e-mobility, a next-generation service area where the users can quickly charge their electric car thanks to the HPC (High Power Charging) stations and have access to information and services: it’s the Enel X Store in Rome, at Corso Francia 212, opened today by the Mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi, the CEO of Enel X, Francesco Venturini, and the CEO of Volkswagen Group Italia, Massimo Nordio.
A benchmark
The store is the result of collaboration between Enel X and Volkswagen Group Italia and represents a major step forward for the expansion of zero-emission mobility in the Country, as underlines Massimo Nordio: “The transition towards e-mobility requires the commitment of all the parties involved: car manufacturers, players from other industries and Institutions. We want to lead the way and go beyond designing and building more and more technologically advanced electric cars: that’s why we are broadening our horizons with targeted partnerships that can bring tangible results in the short and medium term. The development of the charging infrastructure is central to the uptake of zero-emission mobility; HPC plays a crucial role, as it means you can 'fill up' in a very short time, with a user experience that is very similar to that of filling up a traditional car. The Enel X Store is the first 4.0 service area in Italy and will become a benchmark for the new era of mobility. We are proud to be here.”
Ultrafast charging, bar and services

At the Enel X Store on Corso Francia four HPC stations enable four vehicles to be charged at the same time. Each charging point has an output of up to 350 kW, so electric cars that are compatible with high-power charging can be fully recharged in about 20 minutes. A complete, convenient and fast charging experience that gives the opportunity to have a coffee in the store's bar area while waiting. The store will host the 100% electric models from the Volkswagen Group Italia brands (Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, CUPRA, ŠKODA and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles) in rotation, starting with Volkswagen ID.3, the car that marks the beginning of a new era of mobility. Specific activities are planned both for customers who have already chosen a Volkswagen Group car, and for those interested in discovering zero-emission mobility, with dedicated workshops, consulting and the possibility of test driving. In parallel, the users will be able to find out about and try Enel X's sustainable technologies and products for the home and electric mobility and to make bill payments, top-ups, shipments and information on the services.
A strategic choice

E-mobility is at the heart of the strategy of Volkswagen Group, which put in place significant investments and developed projects like the MEB, the modular platform specifically conceived for electric mobility that will be the base for many models from the Volkswagen Group brands. The first vehicle based on the MEB is the Volkswagen ID.31, the car that marks the beginning of a new era not only for the brand, but also for the whole Group.
The opening of the Enel X Store also saw the preview of the 100% electric SUV ID.42, to be launched in the Italian market in April. In the coming months further full-electric models based on the MEB will make their debut on the roads: ŠKODA ENYAQ iV3, Audi Q43 e CUPRA Born3.
