SEAT MÓ 125, the 100% electric scooter is at ease in every conditions
Over 4,400 kilometres of testing in the Pyrenees and the Tabernas Desert, in temperatures ranging from -10 °C to 45 °C and in all surface conditions, to ensure that its performance will not be compromised in any way.
Moving on two wheels means dealing with different types of landscape and road conditions: snow, ice, wet roads, sub-zero temperatures, or sand, dust, gravel, blistering heat. Situations that vary greatly depending on latitude, climate and season.
So, to ensure the best possible performance of the SEAT MÓ 125 100% electric scooter, the SEAT MÓ Quality and Research & Development team put it to the test in two extreme landscapes. Two very different scenarios, both in Spain: the mountains of Baqueira Beret, in the Pyrenees, and the Tabernas desert (in the province of Almería) with a temperature difference of 55 °C between them, covering a total of 4,400 kilometres.
Guaranteed quality
“SEAT MÓ's quality tests aim to guarantee that the scooter can offer adequate performance, in terms of speed, grip and electric range, for example, in any situation”, explains Lucas Casanovas, General Manager of SEAT MÓ. That's why the SEAT MÓ 125 has been pushed “to the limit” on all kinds of roads: on snow and sand, on wet pavement and on gravel, in the sun and in the rain, with a careful evaluation of performance.
During the tests, the engineers checked the performance of the battery and the individual components of the scooter, making sure that the traction and suspension were not compromised under any circumstances and that the tyres did not lose their grip.
Battery always in top condition
Another key aspect is ensuring that the performance of the entire electrical system remains constant even in completely different climates - such as the sub-zero temperatures of the Pyrenees or the blistering heat of the arid Almería desert.
“We have to ensure that the charge level won't drop dramatically at temperatures of -10 °C and, at the same time, that the battery won't overheat above 45 °C” adds Casanovas. That's why the battery features a self-protection system that, for instance, reduces power if it senses that it is getting too hot. These tests are also used to define the scooter's settings for international markets in extreme cold as well as in hot and desert climates.
Batteries protected from water and dust
The battery must be completely sealed and watertight to protect its electrical components from harmful external elements such as dust and water.
In this sense, the SEAT MÓ 125 meets the IP67 international standard: “It means that the battery offers total protection against dust and that its seal can perfectly withstand being submerged in one metre of water, even saline water, for 30 minutes without getting damaged”, Casanovas further explains. “This scooter is designed to be enjoyed regardless of weather or road conditions; with these quality tests we make sure that it delivers”.
