Audi Charging Hub: the sixth ultra fast charging concept opens in Frankfurt
Audi is consistently pursuing its strategy for the electric mobility ecosystem by inaugurating the new Audi Charging Hub in Frankfurt: an intelligent and sustainable facility dedicated to users with limited home refuelling options in urban areas.
Ultra fast charging concept
Four HPC (High Power Charging) charging stations with up to 320 kW, bookable via app for Audi customers and accessible for all electric car drivers regardless of brand: this is the new Audi Charging Hub in Frankfurt.
Thanks to these features, charging times are shortened, but as in every Charging Hub, users have a variety of options while they wait. In this case, one of the options is a visit to the partner Klassikstadt: a former historic factory that not only boasts an internationally renowned collection of classic cars, but also offers a variety of services, including food and drinks ones.

Barrier-free sustainability
All Audi Charging Hubs are barrier-free: the patented articulated charging arm, height-adjustable displays and ample manoeuvring space make charging easy for everyone, including people with disabilities. Thanks to the storage by means of second-life automotive batteries that can store more than 1.05 MWh of energy, Audi is realising an ultra fast charging infrastructure in places, such as the centre of Frankfurt, where the electricity grid would otherwise not be able to supply multiple HPC (High Power Charging) charging points with up to 320 kW of power.
‘In Frankfurt we expect more than 5,000 transits per year,’ says Nikolai Senst, Head of Audi Charging Hub Implementation. In Nuremberg, where a facility with six charging points and a 200-square-metre lounge on the upper floor has been in operation since December 2021, the return rate is 70 per cent - a figure indicative of extraordinary loyalty.

Watchword: accessibility
The Hub is accessible to drivers of all brands, while Audi customers can reserve a slot via the myAudi app. The Audi Charging Hub's characteristic articulated arm reduces the weight of the charging cable by 60 per cent, so that users with mobility disabilities can hold the CCS connector with one hand and manage the wheelchair with the other, reaching the charging socket wherever they are. Thanks to the Audi arm functionality, there is no need to reposition the vehicle, while the automatic rewind automatically clears the pitch. Not only that, there is plenty of space at the sides of the charging stations and the doors can be opened fully. Height-adjustable displays, for example, make it easy to read information about the status and duration of the process.
Remote support
After pilot projects in Berlin and Munich, virtual assistance is also being adopted in Frankfurt. Employees provide tips via special displays, controlling the charging process remotely. In case of difficulties during authentication, they support in paying by credit card or configuring the Plug & Charge function.
