100% electric: Volkswagen’s future car sharing
On-demand mobility services, in particular car sharing: from 2019 the Volkswagen We platform will be expanded with the addition of new services, initially available in Germany and then in major cities in Europe, North America and Asia from 2020.
In the near future, the Volkswagen Group will be much more than a cars manufacturer: it will indeed become a provider of mobility services - for example car sharing. New on-demand services will be grouped within a single platform and are set to debut in Germany in 2019, while the international roll-out is scheduled for 2020.
Volkswagen We is the digital platform designed to connect users to the mobility services of tomorrow in a practical and intuitive manner. Easy to use and highly connected, it was created with the goal of making everyday life easier for the users, allowing them to access the various services with just a few steps.
The VW vehicle-on-demand fleets will consist entirely of electric cars, and will therefore provide zero-emission, sustainable mobility. Volkswagen’s approach also intends to cover all mobility needs, from a short journey of just a few minutes to longer trips, maybe to a holiday destination.

Apart from car sharing, vehicle-on-demand services can also include what are known as micro-mobility solutions. Volkswagen recently presented two mobility solutions for urban centres with the Cityskater and Streetmate, designed for the so called “last mile”.
Going forward, vehicle-on-demand services from the We customer platform will also provide other products, such as a parking app. In any case, all services will complement the mobility solutions offered by MOIA, the Volkswagen Group brand whose products focus above all on ride hailing and pooling services.
